There are many reasons why more and more asthmatics tend to miss the first signs of development that asthma is giving off. It might be because of lack of information, financial insufficiency preventing early expert diagnosis, fear of being diagnosed and other things. But one particular reason as to why most asthma cases reaches full bloom before the patients take action is because of the vagueness of the symptoms that asthma can present itself in.
In order to prevent asthma from causing permanent damage early diagnosis and treatment should be done. That is why it’s very important for you to be able to tell whether what you are feeling now are symptoms of asthma or not. Here are some of the misleading and yet very common asthma signs and symptoms:
Fatigue: Chronic fatigue to be exact. While chronic fatigue can be related to stress, asthma related fatigue can present itself even with sufficient rest. Think of it as the feeling of tiredness that never goes away. You often find yourself feeling weak and without energy whichever time of the day even if you’ve had enough sleep. If you experience this type of symptom, pay your physician a visit and have it diagnosed immediately.
Coughing that gets worse during nighttime or cold days: Coughing of course is nothing new, which is the reason why more and more people get surprised after their first full blown attack or after they have been diagnosed with asthma. Coughing can be a very misleading symptom of asthma as it can be related to simply plain colds or flu. If you observe this symptom get your doctors’ advice first before running to the store to get that cough medicine because it might be something else.
Wheezing: When you wheeze its one of two things, you are catching your breath after running as fast as you can as far as you can OR you have asthma. Wheezing is one of the most tell-tale signs that asthma is here. The wheezing or whistling sound are actually being made by your air passages due to the fact that they are getting narrower making it difficult for air to flow in and out freely.
Worsening allergy symptoms: Worsening allergy is another asthma symptom that you need to be aware of. If you’ve had manageable allergies to certain objects, foodstuffs or other things which you find more and more difficult to handle now or an increase in the number of items which you are allergic to then it would be best to consult your physician immediately for a second opinion.
Asthma is a manageable and controllable condition. The sooner diagnosis and treatment can begin the better your chances are at achieving immediate and long lasting relief from this condition. If you observe any of these asthma signs and symptoms have it checked immediately, if you act now you can create a big impact on your future.
