Many people love to go camping. It is the kind of family outing that people have enjoyed for many, many years. Especially today when many people are having trouble financially, it is a way to take your family on a vacation and one that will give everyone with great memories. The best camping trips result from those people that prepare the smartest. There are several things to think of ahead of time whether it is different types of rain gear in the event of bad weather or to have a first aid kit or first aid kits available in the event that someone gets sick or injured. These are all things that will be discussed in the following article.
The first thing to decide is what type of camper are you? Do you want to camp with a RV or is a tent what you like? Once that is determined, find the location of a campsite that will accommodate either a RV hook-up or a campground suitable for setting up a tent. Most places require reservations so plan ahead quickly as you know when you want to go camping.
The best way to plan what to bring camping is to create a list. Then as you pack for the vacation you can just check everything off of the list to ensure you have packed it. Put your list in different categories such as shelter, food, food related items, sleeping items, cooking and fire supplies, cleaning, and personal safety and first aid products. Write down everything that you can think of needing. Think of what you need during a typical day.
Things like a wash tub and dish soap are often forgotten when going camping but how else will you clean your dishes? Depending on how hardcore of a camper you are, you may either have an inflatable mattress with sheets, pillows and blankets or just a sleeping bag on the floor of the tent will do. These are all thingsto think about to make your trip a comfortable one. Another thing to remember is whether your campsite will be accessible by car or if you have to walk there. This could really decide how much stuff you can bring, obviously. Good meal planning is also a good way to camp. If you just pack a variety of food without planning you will be disappointed. If you are traveling with another family, choose which meals to make for everyone then you will not have to cook or make every meal.
In addition to all of the basic necessities of food, type of shelter etc, the most critical item to plan for is your safety. Always pack one first aid kit or even several first aid kits to make sure your family can be helped in case of a minor skinned knee or a possible run-in with an animal that wandered closely to your campsite. Sunburn, bug bites and skin rashes due to plants are also common while being a camper so pack things for that in your first aid kit.
