Many people love to go camping. It is the type of family outing that people have enjoyed for many, many years. Especially today when many people are struggling financially, it is a way to take your family on a vacation and one that will provide everyone with great memories. The most successful camping trips result from those people that prepare the best. There are several things to think of ahead of time whether it is different types of rain gear in the event of bad weather or to have a first aid kit or first aid kits available in case someone gets sick or injured. These are all things that will be discussed in the following article.
The first thing to decide is what type of camping do you want to do? Do you want to camp with a RV or is a tent what you like? Once that is determined, find the location of a campsite that will allow either a RV hook-up or a campsite suitable for setting up a tent. Many campgrounds require reservations so call ahead quickly as you know when you want to go camping.
The optimal way to plan what to bring camping is to create a list. Then as you pack for the vacation you can just check all of the items off of the list to ensure you have packed it. Put your list in different categories such as shelter, food, food related items, sleeping items, cooking and fire supplies, cleaning, and personal safety and first aid products. Write down all of the items that you can think of needing. Think of what you need during a usual day at home.
Things like a wash tub and dish soap are often forgotten when going camping but how else will you clean your dishes? Depending on how hardcore of a camper you are, you may either have an inflatable mattress with sheets, pillows and blankets or simply a sleeping bag on the ground will do. These are all thingsto think about to make your trip a successful one. Another thing to remember is whether your campsite will be accessible by vehicle or if you have to walk there. This could really decide how much stuff you can pack, obviously. Good meal planning is also a good way to camp. If you just packvarious things without planning you will be disappointed. If you are traveling with another family, decide which meals to make for the whole group then you will not have to cook or make every meal.
In addition to all of the basic necessities of food, type of shelter etc, the most critical item to plan for is your safety. Always bring one first aid kit or even a variety of first aid kits to make sure your family can be helped in case of a minor skinned knee or a possible altercation with an animal that wandered too close to your campground. Sunburn, bug bites and poison ivy are also common while being a camper so pack things for that in your first aid kit.
